A haven of peace in Nusa Dua

Kubu Garden is a guesthouse with 5 rooms, located down a street away from the main Jalan Pratama in Nusa Dua.

During our stay and according to the current exchange rate, the price for one night including breakfast was around €26.3 (IDR 450,000).

There are numerous hotels, restaurants (the majority of which are quite expensive) and convenience stores on the main street. The small street that houses the guesthouse is authentic and quiet, unlike the big street (uninteresting, busy and noisy).

The staff is pleasant, although fairly distant, not as friendly as in homestays for example.

The setting of the guesthouse is very pretty. The swimming pool isn’t huge but is beautiful, refreshing and is lit up at night. The garden, with a lovely fountain, is also very well maintained. Altogether, it is very relaxing and really pleasant. We felt very at ease here.

The establishment has a secure WIFI connection, although it is a little temperamental in the evenings. It is also possible to eat in the guesthouse.

Important point: a free shuttle bus operates between the big hotels in the area and Bali Collection (a kind of shopping center with shops, restaurants and Nusa Dua’s beach). It is possible to take the shuttle at certain times, in front of the hotel Peninsula.

Double Room

The adjoining rooms are located in a building away from the family home. Each room boasts a terrace with table and chairs.

Our Standard Double Room was well equipped: big double bed, desk, wardrobe with hanging rail, air conditioning, flat screen television (but only a few cable TV channels), fridge and a basin with a mirror. The bathroom was indoors, and there was hot water and good water pressure. Three towels (2 big ones and one small hand towel) were provided, as well as soap.

One small point that is worth mentioning is that the room was quite dark despite the fact that our room had 4 windows instead of the standard 2.

Breakfast

Breakfast is served opposite the rooms in the garden, between 7.30am and 11am, when the guest appears. Your choice of dish is made in the morning: you can choose between several types of breakfast (American, Indonesian, healthy…) and there is a hot beverage and a plate of fruit or a fruit juice. We tried the American breakfast (eggs, bacon, toast), the « Kubu Garden » breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and toast) and the Indonesian breakfast (by selecting a Mie Goreng). Everything was delicious and the portions were generous.

What nights did we spend ?

We slept very well in this room: the bedding was comfortable and the location was quiet.

We really enjoyed our stay: the room was clean (daily housekeeping), the location very quiet, attractive and well laid out, the swimming pool refreshing and the breakfast delicious with generous portions!

We would have loved to have dinner there if the prices of the dishes and the drinks on offer had been cheaper (even though most of the restaurants on the main street had extortionate prices!).
