We gave this place a try:

Bayu Mantra Bungalows

Guest House
Lovina

Cheap and close to a fishermen’s village

Bayu Mantra Bungalows is a guesthouse with good value for money.

During our stay and according to the current exchange rate, the price per night breakfast included was €8.7 (IDR 150,000) for standard double or twin rooms with fan (15 m²) and €10.4 (IDR 180,000) for deluxe double or twin rooms (20m²) with air conditioning.

The guesthouse is situated in Anturan fishermen’s village, one of the villages of Lovina, only 100 metres away from the Perama bus station (rather handy to get around in Bali). The neighbourhood is quite authentic. You will discover the fishermen’s homes and their boats, and you will get to eat in the few existing Warungs nearby. Only few meters away you can find some masseuses offering their services. The perfect opportunity to get a massage on the beach for a very low price!

The staff was pleasant and always had a smile on their face from the start to the end of our stay. They speak good English and were always disposed to answer all our queries.

The facility is equipped with WIFI, which we used from the lobby / restaurant (it barely reached our room, which was far away from the router), and offers an excursion to see the dolphins. Extra beds are available for kids, however no baby cots.

The rooms are located in the bungalows and their terraces overlook a large, very well maintained, tropical garden with frangipani trees.

Our 20 m2 deluxe twin room offered a wardrobe, air conditioning and a ceiling fan, as well as light curtains. The private bathroom was outside and had a bath with hot water, a sink and a toilet. Towels, rather rough, were at disposal but however no soap was present.

Breakfast was fairly light (2 slices of bread with butter and jam, a small fruit salad and a hot drink), it is served at the lobby / restaurant and is included in the price of the night.

What night did we spend?

We slept well in this guesthouse. The bedding was confortable and the natural light barely went through the curtains.
We enjoyed our stay here: clean air-conditioned room, very interesting price, authentic situation and very handy if you need to take a bus from the Perama company on the next day (they usually start very early in the morning)!

The place is not perfect, however for this price, it is legitimate to face a few concessions. Moreover, enjoying an air-conditioned room in a well maintained facility, which is situated in an authentic area is already very good!
