Kubu Cempaka Seminyak is a hotel with a swimming pool located slightly away from the Jalan Plawa, at Gang Cempaka n°9, in the heart of Seminyak. Owing to the location, the rooms are quiet. The Jalan Plawa, pretty authentic, is packed full of little local warungs and a bit further away lies the large and swarming Jalan Raya Seminyak. Seminyak beach is a 15 minutes drive away.
We received a warm welcome with a drink and a fresh towel (very welcome in this heat). The staff speaks good English.
The establishment’s prices vary. They change according to the seasons, and mainly depend on the time of booking and type of reservation. For instance, a reservation without option to cancel could cost twice as less as a reservation with cancellation policy (which, for this price, however includes breakfast).
During the low season and if selecting the reservation without cancellation policy and excluding breakfast, the prices started at €26.4 (IDR 453,600) during our stay and according to the current exchange rate. That is what we paid. Note that the total price for the night was debited from our account well before our arrival, which is quite rare in Bali in this type of establishment.

The hotel is good sized with 20 rooms, spread over two floors of the same building. They have a terrace and, most of them, have a lovely view over the swimming pool. It is worth noting for families that there are a few adjacent rooms which would be ideal for four people.
The establishment offers a wide panel of activities (excursions, car with private driver, catering) but the prices were fairly high compared to what we could have found elsewhere.

Our « Double Cempaka » room was spacious (28 m²) and very well equipped: big double bed, air conditioning, cable TV, opaque curtains and window coverings, a desk, a kettle with two mugs, tea and coffee, a fridge, a wardrobe with hanging rail and safe. Additionally, the room was tastefully decorated. Two small bottles of water and a few snacks (chocolate bars and crisps) were also provided.
The bathroom was indoors and separated from the bedroom. There was hot water and good water pressure. Soft towels, soap and shampoo were also provided.

What night did we spend ?
We slept well in this hotel. The curtains were opaque and prevented the light from getting in. And the bedding was comfortable.
We enjoyed our stay here. The room was spacious, well equipped, nicely decorated and the swimming pool was very pleasant (remember to ask for towels at the reception, they are not put on display but remain available). In addition, the location is quiet, although the room is not very well soundproofed.
In the end, we would have liked the room to have been mopped before our arrival (it wasn’t spotless, it felt as though the room had been unoccupied for several days). But the sheets and the towels were clean. Furthermore, the mats on the sun loungers around the swimming pool should be changed. It is clear they have been well used. Finally, considering the price, even in off-season, breakfast could be included.
In short, a location that could be perfect if a few minor points were improved.
