Bali LOCALGUIDE

A slice of paradise, not far from Ubud’s centre!

Nyoman Sandi Guest House is a fancy guesthouse offering 4-stars hotel services for a price equivalent to the rate proposed at other accommodations of same category in Ubud. It offers 11 rooms.

During our stay and according to the current exchange rate, the price per night breakfast included was about €26.5 (IDR 450,000).

The stunning swimming pool

The facility is located in a calm atmosphere, around 1km from Ubud’s palace and in the north part of the Sriwedari Street, which is fully packed with restaurants (in particular the Fair Warung Balé, one of our favourites) and guesthouses.

Irreproachable welcome: kind, professional and very caring for us. Their English skills are sufficient to get understood (however might vary depending on the employee). The 11 rooms are situated in 4 different structures and we have to cross the house and the family temple to access them.

Nyoman Sandi Guest House comprises two swimming pools: a large and a small one, with a set of deckchairs and towels provided for. The swimming pool is surrounded by a beautifully preserved garden. It is quite simple: nothing sticks out! The calm atmosphere is an invitation to relaxation. It is also possible to book excursions and car rental services are available too.

The Deluxe Room (situated in the largest building) that we occupied was 32m2. It comprises a wooden framed bed, two nightstands, the air conditioning, a storage unit with wardrobe, a small clothes airer, a console table, a private bathroom inside the room with a sink, a big shower with hot water, a toilet and a set of toiletries and hygiene items. There is also a lovely terrace with a view on the garden and its swimming pool.

Big and tasty breakfast

Breakfast is served between 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m., on the terrace, as soon as we are ready. You get to choose what comes with the breakfast on the previous day. You can choose between continental, American or Indonesian breakfast, with various options in each menu.

We opted for an Indonesian breakfast with a Nasi Goreng, a juice and a tea as well as an American breakfast with poached eggs, bacon, sausages, white bread toasts with butter and jam, a fruit salad with yoghurt and coffee. Breakfast was really good and comes with a nice touch: tea and coffee are served in teapots, hence in large quantity!

What night did we spend?

Make your own offerings for free

We slept really well in this guesthouse: the room was fresh at night (no need for air conditioning), the bedding was very comfortable and the place was very calm. At no instance have we been disturbed by the noise of the animals, which is rather rare for Bali. However the thin curtains let the natural light in, so we were awake early. Anticipate and bring your sleeping mask!

We truly enjoyed our stay here: outstanding service (coconut and snacks upon arrival, the staff also revises every room in the evening to make sure the mosquito repellent is plugged in and to remove the numerous flowers displayed as decoration, and so on . . .), the employees are adorable (the free initiation to fabricating traditional offerings is a remarkable idea), the swimming pool is very pleasant and the setting is absolutely stunning. The whole place is magnificently well maintained and exquisitely decorated.

We liked a little less the location (quite far from Ubud’s centre if you wish to get out at night), however this slight downside is rapidly forgotten once you are onsite!
